Women are gradually becoming more and more beautiful, according to a group of researchers from the University of Helsinki in Finland.
Attractive women are more likely to have children, and those children are more likely to be female. The result is an evolutionary trend towards beautiful women. Men, however, seem to be remaining just as ugly as their fathers and grandfathers.
The study was based on a sample of over 2,000 Americans of both sexes, which begs the question of whether this is a purely American phenomenon. Indeed, the case of the East German female Olympic champion–turned male by steroids–comes to mind.
Critics of this American hypothesis might compare the lack of beauties in Congress with the attractiveness of other nations’ leaders.
