Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) has announced that she will
formally declare her run for Texas governor in August. The Republican
senator has raised $12.5 million for her campaign to unseat current
governor Rick Perry, who has only raised $9.3 million.
However, Perry wins the number-game when it comes to Facebook fans.
Perry’s fan page boasts 8,765 supporters, while Hutchison has only 5,
208 supporters. This doesn’t mean anything other than the fact that
Perry’s interns are more technologically advanced than
Hutchison’s. The jury is still out on who has the better Facebook
picture.
A poll for Governor conducted by the University of Texas shows Perry
with a 12-point lead again Hutchison, with Perry garnering 38 percent
and Hutchison getting 26 percent of the vote. However, 27 percent of
voters were still undecided and left-leaning Republicans heavily
favored Hutchison.
Interestingly, former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin has
decided to abandon the sacred bond that all women share by giving her
support for Governor Perry. Maybe that’s just good strategy to help
Hutchison.
